The sum of the parts...

What little moments or things does your significant other do that you just love or that reminds you WHY you love them. Like do they bite their lip? Do they sing in the shower? Do they surprise you with fun notes on your trips away?

What I love quickly about the little things of hers...the way she pays attention to details. The way she holds her fork when she cuts her food. The way she smiles. The way she thinks on a difficult subject. The way she changes her mind on a Halloween costume frequently.

What I love in terms of habits is her need to sleep draped across me. Her need to fondle me every night before falling asleep. Her need to play with her rings. Her need to chew on her fingernails (now greatly reduced).

I love how she feeds her addictions. Must have a book. Must watch an indie movie. Must see a Russell Crowe movie. Must have a cup of coffee or tea.

What I love the most is her perseverance to try and actually surprise me, which is RARE. Drives her nuts when she fails to surprise me and drives her equally nuts that I can and do surprise her consistently. In fact, I surprised her in a card game called "Liars" yesterday.

Her birthday is this Thursday and I know she is gonna be VERY surprised to find out what I did to her license plate holder along with her birthday gifts. She's a Firefly diehard fan and her new license plate holder says on the top, "A leaf on the wind" and on the bottom, "Wash is my pilot".

All the little things...makes her whole as a woman whom I love very much. :)

So why don't you tell us about little things your spouse does?

I love when my husband lets me put my feet under the crook of his leg in bed. It's nice and warm and he never complains about my ice feet.

Nolens Volens said...

Autumn - oh, I will go in depth about that on Thursday. ;)

Supah - everyone KNOWS I've got a set. She can't get enough of them. What can I say? LOL

seriously, nobody can say anything nice about their mate? I'm pretty sure the end of that post said "So why don't you tell us about little things your spouse does"...

I will say some nice things:

I love his smirk
I love that he thinks I'm funny
I find his shoulders to be physically and figuratively strong...a big turn on for me.
When he can admit that he has screwed up, he works really hard to fix it.
He is an excellent father.
He knows his weaknesses and tries to be better than them.
I have never met anybody with more integrity.
He's willing to be an ass for our marriage...lol

I love seeing how a guy perceives little things. It's like pulling teeth to have my husband admit to knowing any "little" things about me. Even though in my mind he has a long list of things he loves about me! ;)

I love how my husband chews on his lower lip when he's flirty or thinking.

He's an incredible father.

I love when he eats he is SO proper, like at an English tea party or something.

I love that he laughs at me and at my jokes.

I loves that he has to cuddle up to me at night to go to sleep, or put me to sleep.

I love that he has to kiss my neck first before he kisses me on the lips.

I love that he's a guy's guy who won't admit EVER that he loves critiquing So You Think You Can Dance with me!!! Sorry baby, I gave away your secret. No worries though, I watch Sons of Anarchy with him... so it's even ;)

Great Post NV! :)

My wife, when she gets all sentimental, has this little twitch in her chin that is adorable. Her heart is large, and I love that about her.

As for the license plate holder? Classy. Love that show as well . . .

Thecheekofgod - when I saw that license plate holder, I knew I would want it so I got it for her. ;)

I love how every once in a while he sends me flowers at work.

I love how sexy his lips look when he's eating. (Only Brad Pitt's look as sexy when he eats)

I love how he HAS to touch, smack, grab my ass when he walks past me.

I love how he looks at my tits when I'm on top.

I love his passion for politics and football.

I love that he's a great friend to his friends and me.

I love the way he loves me. (Country song anyone?)

Of course our s/o's have things they do which annoy us, but really, doesn't the good out weigh the bad? If you can't answer yes to that question, then maybe you need to be rethinking some things.

Great post NV! I said AWWWW like I was watching a sappy chick flick! LOVED IT!

I am thinking here......

ummm

well

there are things

Ok, seriously though
I love the way he thinks about things. For example - when it came time to build our playgroung (no, not swing set, it is a full blown playground) he knew each exact cut and how to do each thing - because he had thought it out for three years. (I know)
-----
He keeps me grounded. Sometimes I need that (this can also be a huge irritant though;)
-----
His eyes - enough said
----
When we are out, together, alone - we click. It is the stress of everyday that gets in the way.
---
He provides for the kids things I can't. Emotionally, financially, educational, and even with discipline. He is a good dad.
----
oh NV great post. Thank you for what your brought - including some new faces (and did I see a bit of boobage in the following now?) and a new perspective!

I love that for our 10th wedding anniversary, he built me a porch swing because I have ALWAYS wanted one.

I also love that he just threw it together like it was no big deal. He didn't need plans or anything. His skill constantly amazes me.

There are many others, but those are the ones that immediately came to mind to share :)

Is it me, or do I notice that there are a lot of disappointed or disillusioned women out there. Granted we (men) are not the same as we were when we swept you off our feet, but you should also know that we are growing and evolving and may even be better men than we were when you met us.

Goob said...

I have a sneaking suspicion that for every disillusioned woman out there, there is a disillusioned man, probably sitting right by her side...or across the room as the case may be.

Loved the post. I don't think people spend enough time thinking about the positive things about their S/O. I often find the things that annoy me in others are the very things I least like about myself.

That said, Here are a few of the things I love about my man.

He can always make me laugh.
Doesn't take himself too seriously, and helps me take myself less seriously too.
Is a great Father.
Does 99% of the laundry at our house.
After 19 years together, can still turn me on.
Even though he is Mr. Macho Fireman, he has a sensitive side.
