24 hours of ME time...Female Perspective

So the question posed was, "If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted how would you fill it?"

My Perfect Dream Day On My Own

Wow, it has been a long time since I’ve even thought to plan out a day all on my own. I do get chunks of time for me here and there, but an entire day…! Normally if I take time on my own, I’m out shopping for stuff for my family or the house…not necessarily for me. So, this is what I would do if the entire day was about ME.

8:00 am - Wake up, shower, get ready for the day, eat.

9:30 am – Grab a coffee from Starbucks on the drive…since I’d have to drive at least 20 minutes to get anywhere that has something to do.

10:00 am – Take an introductory yoga class.

11:00 am – Mani/Pedi, Massage, Facial, Relaxing lunch

2:00 pm – Shopping (bookstores, organizing stores)

4:00 pm – Writing a post for blog or work on a freelance editing project (because I like to, not because I have to).

6:00 pm – Dinner. (Anything but hotdogs and macaroni! Probably something like teriyaki chicken and rice with Coke Zero…and chocolate silk pie for dessert. Yum!!!)

7:00 pm – Quiet reading time (A brand new book bought while shopping earlier in the day.)

10:00 pm – Meditate (What does REAL silence sound like anyway?)

10:30 pm – Sleep…lots of sleep.

So what about you? Anything specific that you’d like to do with an entire day to yourself? Would your day be similar to mine?

I would spend LOTS of time shopping, go to the gym for 2 hours, get a mani/pedi/facial/massage. Oh man that sounds nice!

I'd take a LONG bike ride. And then get pampered for sure, hair mani pedi the works. Then I would curl up and sit for a good read :).

My sister once gifted me a weekend to myself in Laguna Beach. It was amazing once I got past all the crying (the kids and me!) I got my Tattoo redone, ate wherever I wanted, shopped, went to the beach and to the movies. I'm thinking it should be a yearly thing :)

Truly free days are very rare for me, but worth their weight in gold! Although not a single parent, I sort of am one 50% of the time due to my husband's job. I don't need any formal "pampering" per se. Just having a day full of possibilities of my OWN making is reward enough.

Activities could be reading, taking a walk, having lunch/dinner with a friend, having a long interruption-free bath, visiting an art gallery or favorite museum, dancing to loud music around the house, watching that foreign film that no one else wants to watch, taking on a big task (like organizing closets or cupboards- weird, I know).

As long as I feel either a sense of accomplishment or a renewal of mind and body, that day was well spent indeed!

That sounds lovely. My day would definitely involve a good chunk of alone time with my to-read pile.

ShellSpan - The mall sounds great and I totally wish I could get up the motivation to get myself to the gym for that long!

Shelle - I agree, but I would need to be able to control the weather here for a long bike ride :)

Val of the south - That sounds like an amazing trip. What a great gift! You should definitely make it an annual trip. In fact, we should all have an annual trip like that.

Anonymous - I am an organizer too! In fact, my 9 year-old copies me. You definitely deserve a day to yourself! Being the main care taker is harder than any job. My husband is the one that stays home and I am so thankful that he is able to be there with our girls!

ZenMom - Reading is definitely one of my favorites. I'm completely addicted to self-help books :)

Thanks for all of your comments!!

I could catch up on my grooming. My highlights have reached my chin. Watch tv and movies, do some shopping and eat appetizer food for every meal.

an entirely free day for me would be totally and completely pointless unless it also included free, guiltless spending. Otherwise, I would spend it cleaning my house. But I really would love a good long day of purely recreational shopping.
