Okay - so here's the deal. I have a head full of fairly thick, fairly unmanageable hair... and I'm a fairly busy person. I decided about... oh, a year ago that I needed to get a REAL hairstyle because ponytails just REALLY aren't that sexy.
Or are they?
You see, I went short - pretty DANG short. Actually a little shorter than I'd planned - but I LOVED it! It was flirty and sexy and FUN. Oh, and ManOfTheHouse (M.O.T.H.) didn't say much... I mean - I think he enjoyed it for a few days and all... but... he didn't say much which I took to mean "hey it's YOUR head, it's YOUR hair - who am I to say what it should look like?" I took it to mean that because we'd discussed hair and hair length ad infinitum and that's what his answer always was....
but now... after having the hair short for a year - attempting to grow it out once and failing miserably (but OH so cutely) it is once again at THAT length...
cut or grow? I ask myself that daily as I am getting ready for work/church/sitting in front of the computer screen...
and apparently M.O.T.H. has an opinion now because he apparently likes that it's growing out. I should be thrilled that he's giving me feedback...
except that - guess WHAT? I liked HIS hair longer too... of course, he can't much control that issue... and at least he's done me the favor of not completely shaving himself to the Mr. Clean stage... SO, I guess I can leave my hair at this awkward stage for however long it takes before I can get a ponytail out of it...
hmmm... maybe I'll dye it red again...

I am right there with ya. I spent 2 years growing all my color out. Then I spent 5 hours getting it rolled for a perm (Somehow in my crazy head I thought that would be easier to deal with). Why? because hubby said it didn't matter what I did with my hair. Now that it is long (past my bra strap) and curly, he tells me "I liked it short and blonde better."
I am about 2 seconds away from chopping it off now.
LOL. This is a great subject. I have long hair, and at times have gotten it short (to top of my shoulders) And Matt has been so dissappointed. He LOVES long hair. So, I keep it. I tend to like it better as well, all my short cuts I have had I have been miserable with.
And several men have told me they prefer longer hair on women.
And yeah go red. ;o)
My stylist and I have a long-standing joke about how my husband mourns every time I go in for a trim. Even though my hair is never any shorter and an inch or so above my shoulders, he thinks it's too short.
What is it with men and long hair, anyway? :)
If you go red, post pics. ;)
What is it about men and long hair????
I'm being a loving wife and for once doing as my husband would like...growing my hair out. I'm past "that stage". The one where you swear your calling your hair dresser the next day and chopping it all back off.
My husband a week or so ago..."I saw you standing in the yard. (with your long hair). You look so sexy. I love it!"
**Sigh** I guess it's worth the hassle if my man is making those statements. :)
It seems men always choose longer over shorter...but we have to do what's best for us. I have long hair now but I'm almost 39 and I think soon I'll have to go with shoulder length, just to be more age appropriate.
I like it about shoulder length where it is now (just above) but it makes it way too easy to just toss it in a ponytail or clip, especially with today's temp of Feels Like 100 - icky. I tell myself if I cut it shorter I'll have no other choice but to do something with it everyday.
Cycling Papa (aka my hubby) says he likes it longer but I don't think he really cares too much. He does wish I'd go blond though...I told him shell the 100 bucks every six weeks and I'll be any color he wants! lol
OMHeck! Hubby and I had this talk just last week. I fro hair right now. It is just too crazy to manage. I was trying to grow it out for him, but I end up with a ponytail just about everyday because I can't have hair in my face when I make dinner, or when I change diapers, or when I fold clothes, or when I blog. It gets annoying.
He (as most men do) quoted the bible- the glory of the woman is her hair. I pointed out that it NEVER said LONG hair. Am I right?
And to be totally gross, would he be happy if I let my leg hair grow? How about my pit hair? Doubt it. So be happy with the trimmage- K?
Stephanie - I am 45, man that was hard to say. lol And I have long hair. And it is a lot longer than my pic in my posts.
In the summer many days its in a pony, but it can still look cute, with a few wispy curls around your face, etc. Or pony with a cute baseball cap on. Or just clip it up on the sides.
And really I can't find 20 minutes in the entire day to do something with it? I can, so I do.
Matt loves it, so no biggie for me.
And youngblood - gross on the trimage comment! LOL Every thing is clean shaven! My hair on my head trimmed to keep styled and neat... but long.
Pardon the TMI, but a woman's ponytail is awesome to pull on during sex...
OKay... my guy honestly doesn't care how I have my hair.
I cut it and he tells me i'm hot, I grow it out and complain as I'm growing it out and he tells me it's hot.
But seriously, it's hard to go wrong with this face... okay, I kid I kid.
But really he doesn't care, as long as I feel good about it, he does.
But Speaking of RED HEAD... I'm getting my color done red... like GI JOE GIRL RED... if you've seen the movie, you'll know what I mean.
If I like it, I guess I'll post pics!
Love ya guys!
P.S. my husband has said that he prefers long hair on my girls, but thinks my hair is HOT short and works with my personality! Go figure?
I'm still growing it out! :)
hahahahaha... I meant he said he liked long hair on MOST girls... not MY girls... I don't have any hair on my "sistas" or "girls" if you know what I mean...
I havent cut my hair in 17 years and it is now mid-thigh...... and Im so afraid to cut it. I cant put it up in a pony tail because it's so think and heavy that it gives me headaches if it up for more then 30 minutes. It just sits long.... doing nothing.
Everytime i see one of those cute short hair bobs or do's I get sooo jealous and get to thinking about cutting my hair and then go through a cycle of calling to make an appointment and then xxling it the day before because of nerves and then I see another cute do on someone and it starts all over again.....
My husband actually told me he would love to see me cut all my hair off and go really really short! but.... I doubt its going to happen anytime soon!
Haha shelle.. too funny! i had to read it twice and then saw your next comment!
hahaha - still cracking up at Shelle's girls and their hair (and really avoiding a visual image... lalalalala)
GI Joe Girl red sounds like fun.... hmmm...
thanks for ALL the comments - I'll keep growing it... as for dadshouse's comment... hmmm... but I'm just thinking when I had the short shorn do that it was very "grippable" as well...
Leave it to Shelle to turn this post into a boobs post again...lol.
When I met my hubby and married him, my hair was longs, down to a little above my butt and he loved it. I've always had my hair long..well in my mind, that's short..so I wanted to have it cut after we got married but he was totally against it. When I got pregnant for the first time, I pretty much had bad case of morning sickness eight months out of the nine months I was pregnant so managing my hair was hard. He finally relented and told me to get a trim, oh boy, I can still remember his reaction when he came into the salon and saw all those hair on the floor. Instead of trimming, I had the guy chopped it off all the way right above my shoulder. My hubby was totally not happy about the cut but after he got over his shock, he was ok with my short hair. So, I cut my hair only when I'm pregnant or after giving birth. The last hair cut I had was just a year ago, hubby's gotten used to seeing me with short hair but the kids on the other hand don't like my short hair...go figure!!
Missty, my wife is 5 yrs older than you, and HER hair is much longer too! It's just a fact that dudes love long hair. I mean, look at it on other women. It's soft, smells great, swings freely, is very feminine, adds mucho sensuality and takes years off the woman wearing it, (as long as it is groomed). My wife doesn't even wear make-up. Just a toss of the hair stokes the fires, believe me. RSS
