The Order of Business: FUN

What do you and your partner do for fun? No, you pervs, not that kind of fun. Normal everyday, you could do it in the middle of the street and not get arrested, fun.

Sexy Papa and I go through stages. I find that it's very easy for us to fall into our daily routines. Walking around like zombies, trying to get done all the things that need to be done. We easily forget that we are a couple who likes to have fun together.

Sometimes we will spend a whole weekend in bed watching old movies, being bums. I really like that. Not naked, just together. There is lots of time to talk to each other and share.

Other times we waist away a weekend on the Wii. Taking turns whooping each others butts at Wii sports. Something about winning makes me really happy. It makes him happy to see me get excited about winning. We poke fun and taunts at each other.

It's been a pretty long time since we did something fun together, though. Like I said, it's easy to fall into everyday life. But this weekend I was looking through some of my old drawings, from when I worked in a tattoo studio. We got to thinking and one thing led to another, and we opened an Etsy shop together.

It was a lot of fun collaborating on the t-shirts and onesies that we came up with. We worked together, bouncing ideas back and forth. Laughing, having fun with it. He thought he was clever when he wanted to put “Who's My Daddy?” on a baby t-shirt. It was funny, but I had to over rule him.

Then once we had settled on the layouts, I got down to business prepping the art. I found he was standing behind me so I asked “What are you doing?” “Just checking things out.” he answered “Plus I really just like to watch you draw.” That was nice.

Now we are really excited to see how it goes. Yesterday, when he got home and wanted to see how far I had come. This is good for us. We have a project together. A common goal. And it's fun.

That got me wondering what everyone else is doing for fun. So how about it? What do you guys do together for fun? I mean besides the obvious?

With two young kids, our "fun time" is limited, but we try to watch some tv in the evenings, either broadcast or DVDs.

Pretty boring, eh?

With three kids the fun time is limited or we end up inviting them along. lol But sometimes we carve out a little us time and head out on the four wheelers.

Time is a commodity, I'm sure in everyones' lives... My husband's favorite (since our dating days - YEARS ago..) is always dinner and a movie. Relaxing, time alone, no kids pulling at our legs or on our arms.

This summer we started running together and once we found our groove - loved it.. the sweat, the conversation, and the time alone. It was fun but that's because we are helping each other with goals to be healthy.

Amidst all the chaos in our 6 children, we do make time every week to do something together.. whether it's watching a late night movie after kids are tucked away, or sneaking out for a quick Sat lunch date (those are the best!) or taking walks..

we just need something to focus on us for a minute to remind us why we like the chaos and work we put ourselves through daily!

My husband and I do a lot of spur of the moment things. Our dates are never planned. My husband lives to make me laugh. He will dance in the grocery aisle or make funny faces when no one is looking so that I can laugh and then I'm the one who looks stupid!

We have fun with whatever we are doing! Great post!

In the before time (pre-kids) we used to go backpacking, camping, hiking, boating, scuba diving, to the beach, museums, monuments, music festivals ...

We still do some of those things as a family, now. But, in general, we don't get as adventurous these days.

When it's just the two of us for an evening - which is pretty rare - we like to go to a movie (we both love sci-fi, action flicks) or a live performance (theater or music) or even just hang out at home and watch a DVD or play a video game.

On the even rarer occasion when we get a whole weekend kid-free (thank you, mom!) ... well, we sometimes do those same homebody type things. Or we work on a project around the house together (yeah, we're weird, we consider that kinda fun).

But, every now and then, we still manage to sneak in a weekend trip to the beach or the mountains or The City for some grown-up fun. ;)

Our time has always been important to us. So when four little boys were little we budgeted to get a sitter. Simple as that. Even when we had NO MONEY, we woud pay the sitter and then go walk the mall, or go to the park or get an icecream.

Now, kids are older, and our time together is still just as important. Every weekend we are together - movies, dinner out, shopping, riding the dirt bikes, going to the beach.

Another thing is very rarely do we do any chores on Saturday. That is our time or family time. Not cleaning and yard work, etc.

We know people who never have kept their spouse and time together an important issue... and now they aren't even interested in each other.

bk (before kids) we used to do really dorky things like embarrass each other in public places by acting mentally handicapped.

Now it is mostly DVD's and dinner out. We do like the "Usual" too, though. Of course.

We are so boring now that we have kids! But it still is SO much fun to watch The Office and just giggle together.

There was no way I was going to post a link to sell stuff here. Tacky. I am a tacky person, but not that bad.
I have tons of tattoos. So many in fact, that Sexy Papa has asked I not get anymore. He, on the other hand, wants to be covered.
Email me if you really want the link to the etsy shop. We put tons of stuff in there.

It really good to see, spending time together is important. We are pretty broke right now. So we are finding that time doesn't cost a thing. We really do make each other happy, just being together.
