Sports practice and games (for my kids), school activities, PTA volunteer, working out (recently added to my schedule), freelance writing and editing, cleaning house…oh, and a full-time job.
Yes, I over schedule, but I think that is just part of who I am. I like to be busy and productive. I tend to do this so much that the people at work expect a huge list of things when they ask what I have planned for the weekend…and that’s what they usually get. It’s odd that I keep doing this to myself since just talking about what I need to do makes me tired, but I have a difficult time just sitting. If I stop moving, I fall asleep.
What does my hubby think of this? Let’s ask him…."Well, you over schedule so much that you don’t make time for yourself. You put everything else above yourself…until you push it so much that you break down. It only becomes a problem when you’re so exhausted that you crash when you get home.” Hmmm…. I think he’s saying that I need to take more “ME” time. I might just have to take him up on that.
I’m not sure who said it first, but it seems to fit well here…“

I could have written this post. Only I also over schedule my ME time. I have a hard time finding a happy medium and giving myself to everyone that needs it or wants it. No matter what I'm neglecting someone, and sometimes, like you, that someone is myself.
I'd like to know how people do it though! I'm just no help!
I think it is like that for most folks with kids. I NEVER schedule anything, ever, that I can help.
I don't volunteer either. You only live once no need spending your life running everywhere!
Just reading your list makes me tired too..then again, I'm just lazy by nature(LOL).
Seriously, I don't really get all the over-scheduling people put on themselves. I have a friend who is just like you. She would do all that you said, actually, this post could've been written by her.
You should give yourself some downtime and ME time. Might be healthier for you.
I have several friends who over schedule. I really feel a few of them think - "the more I schedule, the better I "LOOK" productive and am a super mom." These are the same women every single week you see them tell you their entire to do list, when all you asked was how they are doing. lol
I use to say how busy they were, how incredible they are, blah blah blah. Now I pretty much say oh. or that really stinks for you. No more on how incredible they are, doing everything.
It has been said to them over and over again - you must not say no to anything. So there they are running around like a chicken with their head cut off.
I do what I want, and when I have time. My husband and kids are first with my time. If there is any left, you might be lucky to get a few minutes of it.
Your list sounds kind of normal, as its kids and family stuff. So maybe the husband needs to help out on sports driving if he can.
I got 9 dance classes, chess club, eco club, net ball, football, 2 companies that operate in 7 countries covering so many time zones, a husband and a lover... I get ya!
Thank god the husband ignores me I wouldnt have time if he started to take notice!
Wouldnt swap it though, I go mad when im not doing stuff... heaven help me if I had time to think!
Thanks for all the comments. I've actually cut back on my list over the last year or so, so the post is actually a scaled back me...I'm learning to say no more and more...and I agree, the kids and hubby come first. Hubby helps where and when he can. On his good days (he is disabled living with chronic pain and a broken vertebra), he gets as much done as he can because he knows that not every day is a good one.
Thanks again!
I quickly changed that as soon as I could. After getting a couple of kids in school I stopped. Stopped my unnecessary commitments and extra running. I do not force sports and activities on my kids knowing that the day will come that they will never be home.
That being said - my b.friend says my lazy day is anyone else's most hectic - so, I guess it is all perspective
